Using Link Names to make reports more readable

From EtelligentWiki

When you initially add a hyperlink to an Email in Etelligent, it's a very good idea to also set the Title attribute to something short and descriptive.

If you set this when first adding your hyperlink, the text is used as the Link's Name in Link Management so will also be used in your Reports; thus, when you are viewing your Click Throughs, you can ensure a much more readable report.

If you don't initially set the Title attribute (retrospectively setting it has no effect), you will need to rename your link manually in Link Management by identifying it by its URL and clicking the Edit link next to it.

How to add titles to a link

Once you have clicked the Hyperlink button to add your link, a dialog box appears with several options...

Hyperlink Box

At the top there is the Source where your URL is added and at the bottom is the Title textbox where you can add your title. After adding your title along with your URL click on Apply and the Title will be saved.

What happens if you don't do this?

Text links: Etelligent will suck in the actual text that you linked from. This could result in a list of you Click Throughs being named simple "click here". Or, if you've link from a very long piece of text, the name of the link in the Report will be truncated, potentially making it very hard to understand.

Image links: If you link from an image, Etelligent will use the actual URL for the hyperlink for its name in the Report. Setting the Title attribute on image links is even more important to ensure your Reports are readable.

Here is an example of what an unmanaged list of links can look like...
