Modify Contact Information
From EtelligentWiki
The Modify Contact Information action allows you to set or amend a field in on the contact's database record when an event takes place. The event can be:
- On following a link in an email
- On submitting a survey
- On being sent an email
Why might you want to do this? Here are some examples:
- You can infer profiling information about someone because they followed as particular link.
- By clicking on "Golf Breaks in Wales" I can infer that you like golf – I’ll record that in the database.
- By clicking on a link about a theatre event then they could be flagged as interested in theatre events and thereby become part of a theatre mailing list.
- I'll record that you have applied to have access to the Customer Portal on the Website because you submitted a survey form following a web promotion.
- The person has been sent a 'Welcome Email'. This can be recorded so that it is not sent a second time
This is what you need to do when you add an action of this type.
- Select the field from the drop-down that you wish to modify.
- Enter the text that you either want to replace the existing entry with e.g. entry was Canada, will become USA; or update which will make the entry Canada, USA.
- Click on Submit, which will save the specification you have entered.
