Link Management
From EtelligentWiki
Taking the Link Management option while editing an email will display a table showing all the hyperlinks that have been put into an email. The display is split into two sections, the upper showing links in the HTML version of the message and the lower the links in the plain text version.
By default all the links you insert in an email are tracked. That means that Etelligent will make a record each time the link is followed of who followed the link, and when they did so. Should you wish for some reason not to track a link, then you can uncheck the tick box to the right of the appropriate link. Checking or un-checking the Track tick box at the top of each section will turn off or one tracking for all the links in that version of the message.
To make other modifications you need to take the appropriate Edit button which can be found to the right of the link name. A page like this will be displayed.
You can modify the name of the link (used for reporting purposes). Changing the name has no effect back in the email, it is solely used for reporting.
You can also specify actions that should Etelligent should take when the link is followed.
There are three action types than can be used:
- Modify Contact Information - The contact's database record will be amended, possibly to record some information that you have inferred as a result of them clicking a link. E.g. By clicking this link a can infer that you like golf – I’ll record that in the database.
- Send an Email Alert - You can specify that a specific email address will be sent an email each time the link is followed. E.g. send me an email each time this PDF is downloaded.
- Send Email - This action will cause another email to be sent to the contact, either immediately or with a delay, because they followed a link. E.g. following a link in a travel email for "Free Child Places" will trigger a "More Offers for the School Holidays" email to be sent two days latter.
As Actions are added their specificaitons will be show in the Link Actions area. On the above screen shot you can see that no actions have as yet been entered. You can enter as many actions as you like. There are no restructions so might have a number of actions of the same type set.
