How to clean a spreadsheet for upload
From EtelligentWiki
There are typically only two reasons an upload of contacts into Etelligent might fail. Either the user has not followed the guidelines on how to upload contacts (and their spreadsheet is incorrectly formatted), or the spreadsheet contains "nasties". These nasties could be formatting, hidden formula in the cells, or blank rows that are marked as part of the named area of your worksheet. Often these nasties are part of the originating spreadsheet, and thus serve a useful purpose inside Excel, but they may cause problems with the upload process.
Fortunately, cleaning your data is very easy. This tutorial shows you how to select your contacts, strip out all formatting and formula, and copy the data into a clean spreadsheet.
Step-by-step: Cleaning your data
1. Open the spreadsheet containing your contact data in Excel and minimise the window. Now open a new blank spreadsheet; this will be the container for your cleansed contact data.
2. In your original spreadsheet, left-click in any cell and then hit Ctrl + A (select all) and then Ctrl + C (copy to clipboad).
3. Maximise your blank spreadsheet and right click in the very first cell and choose the Paste Special option.
4. In the Paste Special dialogue box, check the "Values" option and then hit the OK button.
5. Now save your cleansed spreadsheet; it is ready for upload.
