Friendly Name Merge

This feature allows you to merge a value from the recipient's contact record into the "friendly name" field (the "from text" that displays in someone's inbox when the email arrives). This is useful if your recipients have their own account manager or similar representative; you can make each individual's email appear to come from the appropriate person.

Setting up Friendly Name Merges

1. Ensure that you have good data

It should be obvious, but for best results each recipient should have the correct data stored against their contact record. If a contact has no value for the merge, you can specify a default.

2. Configure the merge

With the email on the screen, take the following option:

Email Marketing | Emails | Email Properties

On the Email Properties screen, you should take the Use Merge Fields link next to the From and Reply To addresses.

The drop-down menu under Friendly Name shows you a list of all the fields in your database; from here select the appropriate Merge Field. Next, you should type a suitable default incase no merge data is found for a recipient. Click the submit button when you are done.
