Filters (of all types), which are made up of Clauses and Conditions, can be specified and adjusted using the Filter Editor.
Adding a Filter
When you add a filter you will first be asked to give it a name. After this the following screen will apear:
You will then need to add the first Condition. There is a Wizard that will help you go throuth the process.
1) You need to sepcify the database table on which the condition operates. Most commonly this will be the Contacts Table (where the email address and profileing informaiton is stored.
The full list of table options is:
- contacts
- contacts_dataSource
- contacts_log_linkTracking
- contacts_log_emailSends
- survey_results_xxx
Most commonly it will be the Contacts table that you need to select if it is profile data that is being used as the selection criteria.
2) You then choose the field in the table that you wish to use as the basis for selectoin. All the fields in the table will be shown to you in a drop down list.
What you see will depend upon how you set-up your installaiton.
3) Next you need to select the Comparison Condition. Again you can make your selecton from a drop down list. The options that are in the list will depend on the type of data contained in the field.
There are different options for Alphanumeric, Numeric and Boolean (True/Flase) fields.
4) Finally, you will be asked for a comparison value. For example, if you seleced the field Region and the comparison condition Is Equal To the comparison value might be North West.
After you have added a condition the filter display will look something like this:
Other Conditions and Clauses can then be added.
