Download File Link

It is very common that you want to offer the person who received the Email, or the person viewing the WebPage, the ability to download a file. Typically, downloads are PDFs but any appropriate file type can be used. It is a good idea to give some idea of the size of the file that is being downloaded particularly if it is large, and particularly if you suspect that many of your contacts or visitors might be using slow Internet connections.

In these instructions it is assumed that you will be putting the file to be downloaded onto the Etelligent server. Files that you put on the Etelligent server are stored in the Asset Library.

When you select the Hyperlink icon from the Graphical Editor the following dialog box will appear.

How to insert a 'Download File' Link

1) Make sure that the Source radio button is checked but nothing should be selected from the source dropdown.

2) Use the folder icon to navigate to the required file Asset Library and select it with OK.

3) Add a Title for your link. This text will be displayed when a user positions the mouse pointer over the link.

6) Once you are happy with the specification click the Insert button then click OK.

Once you've selected a file and returned to the Hyperilnk dialog box it should look similar to this:

You might notice that the text shown is the path to the file in the Asset Library.
