Clauses and Conditions
From EtelligentWiki
Filters are a set of one or more Clauses which in turn are sets of one or more Conditions.
Conditions
The Conditions are the basic rules e.g.
"Include those Contacts who are Customers"
which might be specified as
Clause 1)
Condition a) "Customer is equal to TRUE"
If two or more Conditions are specified in a clause, then they all must True for the contact to be included. In terms of symbolic logic, the conditions are ANDed together e.g.
"Include those Contacts who are Customers in the Midlands"
which might be specified as
Clause 1)
Condition a) "Customer is equal to TRUE"
Condition b) "Region is equal to Midlands"
Clauses
A Clause contains the conditions required in the filter.
If two or more Clauses are specified this allows you to include OR constructions. In terms of symbolic logic, the Clauses are ORed together e.g.
"Include those Contacts who are Customers in the Midlands
together with Prospects in Scotland"
which might be specified as
Clause 1)
Condition a) "Customer is equal to TRUE"
Condition b) "Region is equal to Midlands"
Clause 2)
Condition a) "Customer is equal to FALSE"
Condition b) "Region is equal to Scotland"
